FitBark Integration FAQ

StepSmash FitBark Integration FAQ

StepSmash supports syncing activity data directly from FitBark, so your dog can join Smash Bingo and Daily Bingo games alongside you. Once linked, your dog’s FitBark data powers their own Bingo board.

Note: FitBark integration requires a StepSmash+ subscription. Once your FitBark account is linked, each dog associated with your FitBark account can be added to your StepSmash friends list and invited into games.

Linking Your FitBark Account

To connect FitBark to StepSmash:

  1. Open StepSmash and go to Settings → Fitness Accounts.
  2. Select FitBark.
  3. Sign in to your FitBark account and approve the permissions request.

Once linked, StepSmash will detect the dogs associated with your FitBark account. You can add them as friends and invite them to games just like any other player.

Permissions Requested

When you link FitBark, StepSmash requests only the data needed to power your dog’s Bingo board:

  • Activity – to track your dog’s daily activity.
  • Calories – to power activity intensity tiles on your dog’s board.
  • Distance – to calculate distance-based Smash Bingo tiles.
  • Profile – to identify your dog’s account and ensure the right data is linked.

A Few Things to Know About Dogs in StepSmash

Dogs participate in games but have a few differences from human players:

  • Dogs do not earn badges.
  • Dogs do not appear on the human leaderboard.

Data Sync Frequency

  • FitBark devices sync to the FitBark app via Bluetooth when your dog is near your phone, or via Wi-Fi if you have a FitBark base station. StepSmash pulls your dog’s data from FitBark automatically throughout the day, usually when your own activity tracker syncs.
  • To keep your dog’s activity current, make sure the FitBark app is syncing regularly and your phone’s Bluetooth is on.

You can check the last sync time in StepSmash under your FitBark account status.

Troubleshooting

  • If your dog is not appearing in StepSmash after linking, confirm that the FitBark account you signed into contains at least one active dog profile.
  • If activity data is missing or stale, open the FitBark app and confirm your dog’s device has synced recently. FitBark syncs via Bluetooth, so make sure your phone and the FitBark collar have been in range.
  • If you have multiple dogs and only some are appearing, check that all devices are active and syncing in the FitBark app.
  • Confirm that StepSmash has permission to read your FitBark data by visiting your FitBark account settings and reviewing connected apps.

If problems persist, please post in the Tracker Integrations Support forum so we can help investigate.
