StepSmash Release 1.8.0

StepSmash Release 1.8.0

New Features

  • App localization

    • StepSmash now follows your device language. The app and in-app emails are available in English, German, and Spanish. We chose German and Spanish first based on where most of our downloads already come from.

      • We used AI-assisted translation to ship these localizations sooner than we could have otherwise. We’ve done our best to keep quality high, but some phrasing may still feel off or be wrong. If you’re a native speaker and spot something, please tell us: create a post with a screenshot of the text (and a suggested correction if you have one), and we’ll fix it in a follow-up release. We plan to add more languages once we’ve worked out the kinks.
    • You can set a different language just for StepSmash using the per-app language options in iOS (Settings → Apps → StepSmash → Language) or Android (Settings → Apps → StepSmash → Language).

  • Improved invite flows

    • Inviting friends to games and accepting invites are simpler and clearer.

    • When an invite has been sent to another user, and the user has not yet accepted the invite, it’s now clearly marked on the user invite screen that the user has already been invited.

Bug Fixes

  • Game and friend invites now show the correct inviter’s avatar so you can see who invited you.

  • Fixed incorrect lengths for Weekend Warriors and Workweek Hustle step games. Some games were created with a 7‑day duration instead of 2 days (Weekend) or 5 days (Workweek). Active games affected by this have been corrected.

  • Fixed an issue where Apple Health could silently stop syncing when new permissions were added to the app or when not all requested permissions were granted. StepSmash now handles partial or changing permission sets correctly. The same behavior was improved for Health Connect on Android.

Patch Update

This over-the-air update fixes a rare Apple Health sync issue for users whose primary device is an Apple Watch. In some cases, the new Active Minutes feature (introduced in StepSmash Release 1.7.0) could conflict with Apple Health Exercise Time syncing and cause the Active Minutes value in Smash Bingo games to display as a negative number.
