StepSmash Release 1.7.0

StepSmash Release 1.7.0

New Features

  • Android Health Connect Integration

    • Android users can now sync fitness data directly from Health Connect, Google’s unified health data platform.
  • Heart Rate-Based Active Minutes

    • To improve 3rd party fitness tracker support in Apple Health and Health Connect StepSmash can now use your heart rate data to calculate Active Minutes. This provides a better measure of exercise intensity than step-based estimates alone. For a deep dive on how this works see our support article: How Active Minutes Work in StepSmash

    • This opens up support for a wide range of popular fitness trackers that sync heart rate data to Apple Health or Android Health Connect; including Oura, Whoop, Amazfit, Coros, and many more.

    • To enable this, grant heart rate permissions and provide us with your approximate age when prompted during fitness account.

    • For more details on 3rd party tracker support in Apple Health and Health Connect, see our FAQs: Apple Health FAQ | Health Connect FAQ

  • Garmin Heart Rate Support

    • Garmin users with a heart rate capable device can now get more accurate Active Minutes.

    • To enable this, update your profile to add your age. StepSmash will then compute personalized heart rate zones for you.

  • Game Tutorials

    • New interactive tutorial slides now appear when starting a game mode for the first time.

    • Learn how Bingo and Steps games work with visual guides before jumping in.

    • You can revisit tutorials anytime using the help button in the game header.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where custom step games did not respect the configured game duration.

Patch Update

This over-the-air update includes a couple of minor changes

  • Fixed an Android issue where the Smash Bingo tutorial would briefly disappear and then immediately pop back in when you opened a game for the first time.

  • When syncing data from Apple Health or Health Connect, StepSmash now records which tracker brand originally provided that data. This helps us prioritize which brands to support directly.
