StepSmash Release 1.5.0

StepSmash Release 1.5.0

New Feature: Chat in Private Challenges

Today we are rolling out the first version of chat in StepSmash. This gives you a simple way to talk with your friends during private challenges and keep each other motivated while you play.

What’s new

  • Chat in private challenges When you join or create a private challenge you will see a new Chat tab inside the game. Everyone in the challenge can talk, encourage each other, or just share how things are going.
  • Message reporting and safety controls You can report individual messages and manage who is able to talk to you.
  • Flexible notification controls Chat push notifications can be managed from the Settings > Notifications page, or per game from the Chat tab in each challenge.

Why we built it

A lot of players told us they wanted an easier way to stay connected during games. Our goal with this first release is to make private challenges feel more interactive without adding noise or complexity. You can celebrate each other, coordinate your progress, and keep the energy high without leaving the app.

Getting started

Update StepSmash to the latest version, start or join a private challenge with your friends, then open the Chat tab in the game. Notifications can be adjusted at any time to match how much activity you want to hear about.

This is only the beginning. We will continue to refine chat based on your feedback and expand the experience over time.

Patch Update

We’re rolling out a small patch today that fixes an issue where the Unmute button on the Muted Users settings page would sometimes have a text size that was too small.

Patch Update

We discovered that some ad-blocking or privacy-enhancing apps block the domain used by our chat provider. When this happens, the Chat tab can load as a blank screen.

This patch adds detection for that scenario and now shows helpful information so affected users know what’s being blocked and how to fix it.
