We’re thrilled to announce that Garmin Connect integration is now available in StepSmash! Garmin users can now link their accounts and participate in games like Smash Bingo and Step Challenges.
Once connected (via Settings → Fitness Accounts → Garmin Connect), Garmin Connect will periodically push your latest data to StepSmash to keep you up-to-date in your favorite games.
Note: Due to technical limitations, we’re not able to use the “Intensity Minutes” from Garmin Connect. So, for now, we use a closest approximation based on the intensity data Garmin does provide. The experience should still feel consistent, even if your Active Minutes in Smash Bingo don’t align with Intensity Minutes in Garmin Connect.
If you were a beta tester for our Garmin Connect integration you will need to unlink and relink your Garmin Connect account in StepSmash before your activity data will update again.
I don’t see a way to link my Garmin account. When going into Fitness accounts it’s listed as “Comin Soon". Checked for updates for the app but all seems to be up to date - Version 1.4.1
Could you try closing and re-opening the app one or two times? We have a system in place that allows us to remotely enable new features when they’re ready, and it looks like it’s not unlocking Garmin the first time the app is opened. We’ll get that bug fixed on our end, but in the meantime quitting and opening the app should get things moving in the right direction for you.
Thanks for flagging this. After digging in a little deeper, we found that an overnight outage with a major internet backbone provider has had some ripple effects across several services today, including one of our partners that powers our feature gates. In our testing since you reported the issue, Garmin account connections have shown up reliably on fresh installs of the app.
