Outage - March 25th, 2026

StepSmash is currently experiencing degraded performance related to an upstream provider. We’re working to restore service to 100% and will provide an update when we have more information.

Update 2026-03-25T14:13:00Z : We’re seeing a return to service

StepSmash should now be back to full service.

Earlier today, a routine maintenance update performed by our database provider caused the disk backing one of our core databases to be resized too close to its existing usage. The provider then automatically placed that database into read-only mode, which prevented StepSmash from processing any operation that required writing data.

As a result, users may have had trouble syncing tracker activity, flipping tiles, or making changes to their accounts.

Once we identified the cause, we manually increased the size of the affected disk. That returned the database to a healthy state and restored normal service.

We have been through this maintenance process many times without seeing this behavior. As a follow-up, we will more closely monitor database disk headroom after provider updates so we can detect and correct similar issues faster.
