# Global step challenge?

Something that worked for me to motivate me to walk more is also the monthly challenge that I use in my local app (Samsung health) where anyone that uses the app can enroll, makes it feel like the stakes are higher when it’s many people.

Also to make it a 2 in 1 suggestion, could the step challenge days cap be increased to 31 days? So it could cover a the length of any month?

I’ve been thinking a lot about this kind of thing. Not just steps, but ongoing public challenges for steps, biking, swimming, and maybe other things. And of course badges for all of them.

Garmin does something like this too, and it would be fun to have something similar in StepSmash.

Would love a way to create a custom group or multiple groups and create group challenges. We would use this for family vs family; guy vs girl challenges; kids vs parents etc.

All of the following is subject to change, but what we’re thinking is several public global challenges along the following lines:

- Blitz stays as it is, appearing somewhat randomly, and in the medium-term gaining more interesting mechanics exclusive to that mode
- Weekly Bingo
- Monthly Bingo
- Workweek Hustle
- Weekend Warriors

Each challenge would have it’s own unique badge, like Blitz has today, rather than sharing the badge the private challenges use. StepSmash+ folks can compete in as many of the active challenges as they want, and folks on a free account can compete in 1 active challenge at a time.

When this is live and we have a better idea of the kinds of user numbers we’re going to see per-challenge we’d likely consider [Member ranking for games](https://community.stepsmash.com/t/member-ranking-for-games/201) as a way of more closely match-making the challenges to improve the competitiveness further.
